A Few of my Skills
URBAN LANDSCAPE DESIGN
LANDSCAPE ELEMENT INCORPORATION
Jay was initially drawn to landscape design because of his love for plants and his desire to make his own property an enjoyable outdoor space. However, through his undergraduate studies in landscape design Jay quickly realized he also had an affinity for the more technical aspects of design. He was drawn to the construction of landscape features as well as the way people move through and utilize spaces.
“Growing up on a farm in the Midwest the two things I was constantly surrounded by were plants and the need to build, repair or improve something. Both things helped to foster an inherent interest in nature and science as a whole (but especially horticulture), as well as a desire to understand how things are built. It turns out that these interests, along with formal training as a photographer, have proven to be a great combination of creative and technical skills needed as a landscape designer specializing in outdoor living.”
Jay is also obsessed with trees and has been known to inform friends and family members of “fun” facts about them. In his spare time Jay enjoys exploring the Northwest with his wife and friends as well as continuing to hone and experiment in his own outdoor living space.
